This is the completed piece. I learned that sanding is the key to a good finish - every sanding mark shows through and I did not sand as carefully as I might have to eliminate marks. Also, the wipe-on poly finish reaches final color almost immediately - I learned that sanding sealers are a key to improving the uniformity of the finish and avoiding color takeup in porous areas of the wood. That's the end of my first furniture project!
